To Pink or NOT to Pink??? That's the question!

I'm not sure what we were thinking with this one... We bought this table from a fellow vendor at the Sleepy Poet.  When we bought it, the color was not so... PINK!  In fact, it was a nice solid wood table.  A few scratches here and there, but not bad.  We decided to go out on a limb and paint it this color (We found it in the miss-tint section...).  It sat in our booth for some time, so we decided that it needed yet another makeover!  (Not that I don't like pink, but on this accent table it was a bit much!)

We started by stripping the paint off of the top.  I tried a new product (shown below) that is more environmentally friendly and doesn't strip your skin, cause birth defects, burn your nose hairs... the list goes on and on...  Although it is better for you and the environment, it takes a little more elbow grease than the bad stuff!

I scrubbed and scrubbed.... (and eventually tried to sand it off - AGAIN!)  Yes... I'm inside my living room sanding!  It was the hottest day that Charlotte has seen this summer and I thought I would have a heat stroke!  (at least I wasn't burning my nose hairs!?!?!)

I painted the table a soft white and left the top bare.

I stained the top and added a couple coats of Polycrylic to give it a classic look.  I love that you can still see some of the pink through the distressing, but it's not as overwhelming as it once was.

So.... What do you think?  To pink or not to pink??  Leave a comment about some of your pink projects (or just tell me how you feel about pink!)!

Happy Friday!

  1. I love it! Of course, I loved it pink, too, so I'm not a very decisive audience. I love everything you do! More than anything, I'm amazed that you have the energy and gumption (yes, gumption) to paint things TWICE, since I can't paint things once in my house! You are the best!

  3. Love the makeover. This table could fit in anywhere. I am very partial to pink - but you made a good call on changing the color.
