Everything's Better Red

While visiting my sister, I spotted this beauty at a barn sale.  You can't really tell from the picture, but this piece was nasty!  If it didn't have stains and chipped paint, I probably would have been tempted to leave it in its original condition.

I slathered the piece with "Weathered Crackle Glaze" and let it dry for about two hours.  While it was drying, I watched the neighbors gawk at it with confused expressions on their faces.  I know the neighbors LOVE all of the furniture in our yard.  (Please note the white grass below the saw horses!)  In our defense, our house is on the market in hopes of finding another house with a little privacy (and shade) while we're painting.

I love the color red and I try to use it as often as I can!  After I sprayed the piece red, (it only took one coat with the crackle glaze) I re-painted the feet black.  I also painted the knob to match.

Now it is adorable and full of character.  We may have to hang onto this one...

Please note some of my other favorite things in this picture!  I LOVE my new tobacco basket hanging on the wall!  I put it near the door in the event that there is another kitchen fire in our home!  This baby is going outside with me!  (Of course I'll make sure Big Dump is out safely first!)

I also love the wooden tote box that is propped by the table.  We found this at a nearby auction (note the convenient little handle so I can grab it on my way out too)!

Happy Treasure Hunting!

  1. What a super transformation! Love the red!

  2. Gorgeous! So glad we struggled mightily with this table to get it into Wanda the Honda! It was worth it!

  3. Love how it turned out, that red is amazing! Thanks for sharing at Beach Cottage Good Life Wednesdays.

  4. I am also in love with red. I am using a lot of Annie Sloan's Primer Red right now. Trying to get brave enough to paint my front door...

    Your table looks great!

  5. I've tried some crackle techniques before and never can seem to get it just right. You did a great job on this. I just may have to try it again.

  6. Love the red. You are so creative. Thanks for sharing. I will follow.

  7. So I've seen more of your talent--oh my gosh; love your style and what you do for furniture is just amazing. Thanks for sharing your wonderful projects; I just want to see more though! Love this little red table!
