Shortly after she was born, we moved into our new house (yeah, a little backwards, but we like to do things the challenging way!). The first room that we just had to tackle was her nursery and I have no doubt it will be the only room we will complete for a long time. Anna runs this place! Early on, we had a vision of what we wanted Anna's room to look like, and we were ready to make it happen with some painter's tape and the boldest colors we could find! We painted this dresser while we were waiting for her arrival - she took her sweet time, which was thoughtful, and, then again, not really. Anyway, we decided to use it to help us design the rest of the space.
The only other piece of furniture that needed a makeover was this cute little table. It has been in the family for many years and it needed a little TLC. I loved the idea of a marble top, but it just didn't match the rest of the room. Anna is way more into hot pink than mauve.....smart girl already.
We came up with this easy idea to make it work. First, we painted the table white to match the rest of the details in the room. Then we bought cute fabric to tuck around the marble. We taped it on the bottom and that's it! Now it is super cute and holds other family heirlooms, like the kissing angels that will be moved high on a shelf when Anna is mobile. Her great-grandmother Betty Ann, for whom she is partially named, made them long before Anna was our angel and no way is she getting her baby hands on them!
Now, we all know that Mr. Dump is pretty handy around the house, but he's also very artistic. He painted a beautiful castle mural on Miss Anna's wall. Naturally, she is a princess and every princess needs a castle!
Here is a look at the rest of the nursery, including some shelves that Mr. Dump built!
Those of you that have been followers for a while know that prior to being a mommy, I was a teacher. Dumped and Discovered was something that Mr. Dump and I did on the side. Now that sweet Anna is here, I've decided to take a little break from teaching and spend time at home being a full time mom. I'm also hoping to tackle projects around the house and refurbish furniture more regularly as the weather warms up. Plus, I plan to put Anna to work on the spray gun just as soon as her aim gets a little better - teach 'em young! Keep checking back to see what new projects we create!
Happy Junkin'!
